APC at the second Internet Governance Forum

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- APC at the second Internet Governance Forum

The second Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 12-15 November. Many member groups of the Association for Progressive Communications (APC) have tried-and-tested solutions to tackle what APC sees as the most important challenge and prime topic at the second Internet Governance Forum (IGF): internet for development. This development can be addressed by looking into a set of themes that are all related to digital inclusion: Access; Internet governance; Financing; Human rights; participation in public policy processes; Gender equality; ICTs & sustainable development.

APC staff and members will be in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to advocate for universal and affordable internet access (global public infrastructure); the reform of international governance mechanisms (working for internationalisation, technical authority and accountability to all stakeholders); the management of critical internet resources; defining internet rights through the IGF to initiate measures to promote capacity building in developing countries (to increase their participation in global policy making).

APC will be present at different panel sessions (including the opening ceremony) and workshops. Follow our coverage on APC.org
