APC
members work with your community to build electronic campaigns,
hold effective online meetings, catalyse online action,
produce collaborative documents and get things done. We
offer training and
resources to build your capacity to use the Internet effectively.
Our communication strategies combine the best of traditional
and electronic means of sharing information, linking with
radio, fax, face-to-face meetings and word of mouth.

some examples of strategic use of information and communications
technologies:

and build capacity
These
projects - finalists
of the APC Betinho Prize
-
make essential use of ICTs, especially the Internet, in
their work to mobilise awareness and participation, and
build capacity in the communities they work with, and contribute
significantly to development. See examples from prize finalists
in 2001 and
2000.

- Women-Led,
Women-Informed, Women-Inspired Initiatives
in
Africa
APC
created the APC Africa Hafkin Prize because we believe
it is essential to encourage and recognise outstanding
examples of African initiatives in ICTs for development.
Examples can come from civil
society organisations, government institutions, educational
organisations, community-based groups, networks, social
movements or individuals anywhere in Africa that have
successfully initiated and implemented projects that involve
the use of ICTs for development and social justice. The
theme for the 2001 Hafkin Prize was: Women-Led, Women-Informed,
Women-Inspired Initiatives. Read about the finalists
and the winning
initiative. This information is also available in
French.
