Capacity building

APC, Bellanet, IICD, IISD, INASP and OneWorld have joined forces to create ItrainOnline

www.itrainonline.org

A technology resource centre for people who want to learn how to use the Internet effectively for social justice and sustainable development
Find out more about ItrainOnline

We've collected resources produced by APC and our partners to help make the Internet work for your organization. We've got training materials and business management materials especially for non-governmental and socially progressive organizations.

Training Materials

Training is a key ingredient for any online strategy. APC members and partners develop a wide range of unique and practical curriculum and materials relevant to the needs of NGOs and activists and the work you do. We're gathering these here for you and your community to use. The information in this section is powered by ItrainOnline, a technology resource centre for people who want to learn how to use the Internet effectively for social justice and sustainable development.

Understanding ICT Policy

Information and communication technologies (ICT) policy decisions affect anyone who wants to take advantage of the opportunities that new technologies can offer. Will the national policy favour technology that is state-of-the art but not affordable in rural areas? Will your government provide service subsidies to poor or disabled people? Will your government encourage the development of software that illiterate people can use? All of these are pressing questions whose answers depend on the ICT policy choices made by governments and other official decision-makers.

APC has created resources to help civil society organizations understand policy and regulation related to ICT so that you can begin to engage and influence policy processes affecting ICT adoption and implementation at national, regional and global levels.

Managing Your Non-profit

Many APC members are non-profit organizations and so is the APC itself. We 've put our strategic business planning resources online for you to use.

Using the Internet Strategically

To use the Internet "strategically" simply means to get what you or your group needs from the myriad possibilities offered by online software and tools. So you can see how different organisations have been able to use new technologies for positive outcomes, we've compiled a series of examples that we hope will inspire you.

Special Projects from APC

APC runs lots of special projects especially for NGOs and other non-profit initiatives devoted to change and development using ICTs. Check them out.
